The editor of Italian VOGUE magazine Franca Sozzani had this to say about the Barbie issue (which features all black barbies):

“Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate [this] issue to Black Barbie.”

Whether you are musing over or feeling incredulous about how LeBron was dunked on by Jordan Crawford, here are some great LeBron kicks that will hopefully take your mind off the incident. These Nike Zoom LeBron Power VI appeared on Ebay and is the original sample of Nike Zoom LeBron IV. The kicks feature LeBron logo and a graffiti accented panel that were also used on other LeBron models. The same pattern is also used on the tongue patch and the soles feature a matching red/black pattern that goes with the shoe colorway.Too bad, these kicks have already found a new home, so we will have to settle for looking at their pictures.

Whip It (2009) Trailer

You’ve got to hand it to Drew Barrymore: Between Poison Ivy, Charlie’s Angels, and her newest project and first gig as a director Whip It!, she brings on the girl-power like few other womyn in the business. In the newly released trailer for the film, which opens on October 9, Ellen Page (from Juno superfame) returns to the big-screen as another alterna-teen, Bliss, trying to find her way in the conservative Texas town of Bodeen. An unwilling beauty pageant competitor, Bliss rebels against her parents by dying her hair blue and finding her true passion in roller derby.

Whip It! has all the ingredients for a sleeper hit: Mix in Ellen Page, a dollop of coming-of-age quirkiness, the thrill of competitive sport, and add in a cast of babes kicking ass on roller skates, and it’s hard to see where this one will go wrong. The trailer gives special emphasis to comic supporting player Kristen Wiig (from SNL), but Barrymore herself also gets screen time as tough team-member Smashley Simpson, along with other bad girls Juliette Lewis, Zoe Bell, Alia Shawkat and rapper-turned actress Eve. Based on young writer Shauna Cross’s young-adult novel Derby Girl, the film will be released by Fox Seachlight, which has a history of making box-office gold out of this sort of thing (i.e. Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine).

THE IDEAL SIZE.

One of the greatest questions of our time–What is the ideal size for women?–needs to be answered.  In this study, it claims that overall, men seem to like a woman of about a size 12, when women’s idea body sizes are actually an 8.  Maybe I might be confused because I am from LA, but here the ideal size for a woman is 2 and men prefer a 6 because there’s a chance women will have tits.
